One of my favoite verses in 1 Peter is Chapter 5, verse 2 to 3, in which he exhorts the elders of the Church to “Feed the flock of God.” It is the fulfillment of the teaching of the resurrected Christ to Peter on the shore of Galilee, recounted in John 21: “Feed my sheep . . . Feed my lambs . . . Feed my sheep.” To me, this is Peter’s affirmation that he is the author of this epistle, testifying that he has magnified his calling as an apostle of Christ.
