Regarding Rahab, Jewish tradition is that she was also an innkeeper and that would explain why the spies had “lodged there.” The genealogy in Matthew 1 states that Rachab was married to Salmon of the Tribe of Judah and that she was the mother of Boaz who married Ruth (It is interesting to speculate that perhaps Salmon was one of the two spies?) Boaz was a good man so it would be safe to assume that Rachab was a good mother. According to Matthew, Rachab would then have been the great-great- grandmother of King David. However, the timeline does not seem to allow that. What do you think?
