Wonderful article, but I’m confused about one point:
“The Egyptian instrument [plumb line] in Figure 7 was used to measure time.” You say this at least twice, so I don’t think it’s a typo. A plumb line is used to make sure a wall is plumb, that is, vertically straight (as opposed to level, horizontally straight). It has nothing to do with time. What are you thinking here?
