  1. I find it sad but kind of amusing about the rallying cry of BYU to defend the historicity of the Book of Mormon. Virtually nothing comes out of BYU now about anything related to this topic, most is done by independent researchers and independent funding. Even people that worked for BYU like Royal Skousen, were forced to go outside of the BYU umbrella to do their research. The Church, with its recent statement on Book of Mormon geography, itself kind of threw ice water on any research in that area. The main scholar in the BYU Maxwell Institute when he retired went out on a podcast and announced that the Book of Mormon and the BOA weren’t historical.
