Kind of an interesting corroboration for an Egyptian brass plate record is that characters 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 23, 34, 48, 66, 75, 82, 84, 126, 133, 155, 191, 194, 208, 219, 221 from the Caractors Document and character 1 from the Cowdery/Williams transcript are all forms of Egyptian hieratic that are much earlier than the Lehi time frame (1000 BC and earlier). See Appendix 2 in http://bmslr.org/books/Translation%20of%20the%20'Caractors'%20Document%20-%20Revised%20and%20Updated.pdf
So interesting! Thank you.
Interesting scholarship, but dogmatic adherence to the chronogenealogies of the (probably) corrupted Masoretic text continues to be a stumbling block to those trying to match Bible history with archaeology out of the ground. The Alexandrian LXX’s timeline is more likely to be correct. I’m sad no one in LDS academia even explores this important topic.
Before one gets to excited one should read Peter Enns book The Bible Tells Me So especially the chapter Digging for Answers on the lack of evidence for the conquest. For example some have argued there was wall around Jericho but only a partial wall to collect water.

Once again, we are dazzled by the thoroughness of the the research, the clarity of the argument, and the commitment to the Book of Mormon and the Brass Plates.
The Book of Mormon’s ancient context continues to be expanded and its special role in testifying that the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament are true presented with power and grace.
Truly important work featuring insight and powerful interpretive skills.
Thanks, Noel, for continuing to bless us with deeper understanding of this marvelous work and a wonder..
Noel, I was pleased that you were able to include the discovery of the curse tablet from Mt. Ebal. It will be interesting to read the official report when it becomes available later this year. If this report corresponds with what has reported in the popular press it will provide compelling evidence.
