This week for Come, Follow Me lesson 45 covering Mormon 7-9, we have lectures 107 and 108 from Hugh Nibley’s Book of Mormon classes at Brigham Young University, covering Mormon 8 and 9.
During 1988, 1989, and 1990, Hugh Nibley taught Honors Book of Mormon classes for four semesters at Brigham Young University. The lectures were video-taped and audio cassettes and printed transcripts were made of the lectures. We believe these recordings will be interesting to listen to and valuable to your Come, Follow Me study program this year. Each week, we will include the lectures covering the Book of Mormon chapters being studied that week.
All 112 lectures are immediately available in PDF, audio, video, and electronic formats, as well as in paperback books that are available for purchase. Links for all of the available online sources can be found in the Complete Bibliography for Hugh Nibley at https://interpreterfoundation.org/bibliographies/hugh-w-nibley/lectures/.
Lecture 107: Book of Mormon—Mormon 8–9.
Also called “Extinction of Moroni’s People; Roman Satire; Spiritual Gifts.”
Here you’ll notice Moroni takes up the story. He picks up the record at his father’s command and takes over the record at this time. This has all happened after Cumorah. This is about A.D. 401, so this is fifteen years after Cumorah. He writes the rest of Mormon’s book.Watch on YouTubeDownload AudioDownload PDF
Lecture 108: Book of Mormon—Mormon 9.
Also called “The Book of Mormon and the Ruins.”
You can’t be neutral about the word of the Lord. You can’t laugh it off exactly, and you can’t argue with it and get angry. No, just despise it. We don’t even consider that stuff. The only way you can reject it is to despise it.
