  1. Thank you for bringing this wonderful insight back into the spotlight, Matt. It is powerful symbolism and profound truth. Though not directly related, it still brings additional light and power to the reunion motif of the Parable of the Prodigal Son and the Hymn of the Pearl.

    • Thank you, Bryan! The Parable of the Prodigal Son may be more directly related than many may think. Jesus’s parable, as Luke records it, incorporates language from Jacob’s reconciliation with Esau and their embrace in Genesis 33. The atonement language in Genesis 33 is prominent. Jesus’s parable of familial reconciliation teaches us about an important aspect of his atonement.
